I'm not even gonna bother with an excuse at this point. I figure this post will get me though the end of October, and then I'll start in on November.
10/14: A visit to the farm
The Small Human had the day off from school, so we made the most of it and headed out to a local farm. We went on a hay ride, painted a pumpkin, drank some apple cider, and made silly photos. Like the one you see above.
The one from my cell phone came out pretty nifty, too.
10/15: Front porch decorations
The pumpkin on the right is the one the Small Human painted the day before.
10/16: Knight School
Not much to say here.

10/18: Trunk or Treat
So, the Small Human's school puts on a Halloween party, where the kids dress up. They have a DJ, and something called "trunk or treat." Basically, parents will decorate their trunks or tailgates and give out candy. Were it not for my work schedule, I totally would have done this, complete with the fog machine and everything. Anyway, the boy had an excellent time, especially when it came to dancing with his buddies. Oh, and candy. That, too.
10/19: Moose's birthday party
Moose is 2 years old! We celebrated his birthday in a park. The weather was nice, too. The Small Human sat still for a photo for about 3 seconds before he was off to the soccer field right next door to the picnic area.
10/20: Divergent paths
Hubby and I came across this on a walk through the park.
10/21: Healthy vs. Sick
I think this is self-explanatory.
In other news, my house is starting to get scary.
10/22: Air guitar
Hubby had Iron Maiden on full blast. This photo is actually a still from a video I took of the Small Human rocking out. Here he's using his sword as a guitar.
10/23: I got nothin'.
10/24: Colorbelt graduation
These things tend to happen every 3 months or so. This time, the Small Human went from a Dragon Green to a Dragon Brown Belt. Here he is shaking hands with the master instructor.
10/25: Happy birthday to me!
My co-workers rock! They got me a cake, complete with scary rings and a Frankenstein toy. And it was delicious.
10/26: Birthday extravaganza
We spent my birthday at Six Flags. We were going to their Fright Fest, but the scary stuff didn't come out til night time, and we really didn't want to scare the crap out of the kid. It was damn cold and windy outside!
First, of course, we posed in front of the bloody fountain...
Next, the Small Human got to meet the Looney Tunes characters. Here he is with Foghorn Leghorn
Then, we watched a zombie face paint our boy.
The results were quite frightening.
We went on a bunch of rides, too. By the time we left, the lines were getting really long. We tried waiting for 45 minutes for a Batman ride, only to have Meltdown occur. So we left.
Later, we met up with my brother and his family for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. Om nom nom!
10/27: Another birthday celebration
My MIL does birthdays for all of us, weather or not we're related by blood or just by marriage. She's awesome that way. So Mom made a spaghetti dinner and a chocolate cake. Yum!
10/28: Beautiful fall tree
Our tree on the corner turned a fabulous shade of red.
10/29: Nuthin' here.
10/30: Nuthin' here, either. So much for photo-a-day. but I thin that ship sailed a long time ago.
10/31: Halloween!
So many photos from my favorite holiday, and so little time. First, the kids' Halloween parade. My son is posing, as always.
Then, it came to decorating the house. Here it is in the day time...
...and again in the night time.
You can't see the twirling ghosts, Frankenstein sitting on the porch, the grim reaper in the tree, or the scarecrows wearing masks from here. But I did shoot a photo of the smoking coffin...
The Small Human reprised his role as the Dragon Ninja.
We went up one block and around our block before he had had enough of trick-or-treating. The Small Human wanted both of us to go, so we left the cauldron of candy bars unmanned with a note to take only one. Not sure how well that worked, but the cauldron wasn't completely empty by the time we got home.
We went through 100 bars of candy that night.
Next up: The first half of November. When I get around to it.
