I posted the majority of these photos on Facebook, but here's a few more.
Day 274: Baby Shower
My SIL is due on Halloween. My brother is a Halloween fanatic, so the timing of this whole process could not have worked out better. As soon as he heard that SIL had a bun in the oven, he was brainstorming elaborate costumes she could wear, using her gravid belly as a prop. No "pregnant nun" costume for HIS wife, no no no. Alien fetus coming through the abdomen? Now that's more like it!
Anyway, SIL's mom and sis threw a bookworm-themed shower. All of us were to bring a book to start the lil fetus's library. When I was pregnant with the Small Human, a similar shower was thrown for me, and it rocked! Having an instant library for the fetus is a pretty awesome idea. The guests at SIL's shower came through big time.
I got 3 books for the library. One is for the lil' fetus: Where's Spot? In my house, it was called "The NO book," due to the numerous times that word appears among the cardboard, lift-the-flap pages. My Small Human loved that book, and still does. For mama? Medications and Mother's Milk, by Thomas Hale. For a nursing mama that may need meds for herself while she's lactating, it's an essential resource. And for both mama and daddy? An essential book to help them understand that the severe lack of sleep they are about to experience is a universal phenomenon: Go The Fuck To Sleep.

Why, you ask? Because there will come a day, when you have not slept in
Here's a few more pics from the day...

Twin nephews! Their pseudonyms shall be Thing One and Thing Two. Hubby was asked to be the godfather of Thing One.
Most of the people photos were posted on facebook. So if you're looking for all of those, go to my FB page and explore the album there.
Prior to the main event, we had the Running of the Toddlers:
The church was beautiful! I love stained glass.

| Meanwhile, Thing Two was ready to party! |
My son got all sweaty from running with the herd of other small humans. He spent the ceremony sprawled out on a pew, trying really hard not to cry because he was so overheated. Poor kiddo. I took off his sweater, and gave him a drink of water once the ceremony was over. That helped a bunch. He spent most of the time at the party running around like a crazy guy with all the other kiddos. It was nice to see him make friends so easily!
We all had a really good time. Hubby got to watch the Eagles play, and the rest of us had fun hanging out and watching the kids run amok. The food was awesome. My SIL is an amazing cake decorator. I thought it was done professionally!
All the good friends and good food left us with a tired Small Human. He fell asleep on the way home. As for me, I fell asleep on the couch shortly thereafter. Hard to believe I used to stay up all night scraping drunk people off the turnpike!
Day 276: Sad Robot
Looks like Alfie had an accident...
